How to write a good paragraph
Writing well-composed academic paragraphs can be tricky. This article helps you to understand how to write such a well-composed article. It provides you with a well defined roadmap on how to form your perfect paragraph.
A Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Decide the Topic of Your Paragraph
Before you write a paragraph ask yourself: what is the topic of this paragraph? What topic do I want to talk about?
Step 2: Develop a Topic Sentence
Strong paragraphs typically contain only one main idea or topic, which is explicitly stated in a topic sentence. This topic sentence is the core message of your paragraph.
Step 3: Demonstrate your point
After stating your topic sentence, prove it. Provide the reader with information to prove, illustrate, clarify or exemplify your point.
Step 4: Give your Paragraph Meaning
After you have given the reader enough information to understand your point, you need to explain why this information is relevant or interesting.
Step 5: Conclude
After illustrating your point and explaining why it is interesting or relevant, add a concluding sentence. Concluding sentences help you to link paragraphs together.
Step 6: Look Over and Proofread
Before you submit your writing, look over your work at least one more time. Try reading it out loud to make sure it makes sense.
